Collegeville Elementary School will be hosting a meeting for parents interested in enrolling their Kindergarten age student in the Dual Language Immersion program there. This provides parents with an opportunity to help their child become bilingual as they are taught to speak, read and write in Spanish for 90% of the school day. As they move along in the program, English instruction is gradually increased so that by the time they reach the 5th grade they are taught at a 50/50 English to Spanish ratio. As a former high school Spanish teacher I can tell you that by the time students enter into a Spanish 1 class as freshman, years of opportunity have been lost. Our meeting will take place at 6:00 PM on January 28th at the Collegeville Elementary School cafeteria. Parents with Kindergarten age students who will be enrolling their child for the 2020-2021 school year are welcome to attend.
